Three sentence movie reviews: Clouds of Sils Maria

Even though this is written and directed by a man, I think this is the kind of film we would see a lot more of, if more women were in charge in Hollywood.  Here, you’ve got a good slice-of-life with Binoche and Stewart as actress/assistant during a turning point in Binoche’s career.  It’s engrossing to watch the characters talk about art and life while observing and sometimes commenting on their life choices.*

Cost: free from library
Where watched: at home

*The landscape is also quite beautiful.

  1. I would have never pegged this as a movie centered on relationships. It almost looks like a Warren Miller poster (sans skier). Would I like it?

    1. Because you don’t obsessively review movies like someone I know, I don’t have a good bead on if you would like this movie or not. It’s one of those films where nothing much happens but conversation. As I like all three actresses (Chloe Grace Moretz is the third), movies where not much happens, and coversation it was fun for me. But I would guess the Redbox reviews would nearly all be versions of “Oh my god, so boring!!!!!”

(That was the gist of the Redbox reviews for Manchester by the Sea. They made me laugh a lot.)
