This is from the usual suspect, Sara. She reports that Florida was chilly–Instagram posts from that period show her in a sweatshirt with a scarf wrapped around her neck. She stood in multiple lines to see this shuttle.  She also reports it’s been a good trip.

Sara reports that she grabbed this at the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) conference.  She had a great time at the conference.

Sara grabbed this cute card for me when she was in New York City last month.
She reports she’s been overly busy.  This news was not a surprise to me.

Regular commenter Jan went to St Louis and sent me this card.

She told me that the tour inside the arch had a strong 1960s vibe that she thought I would enjoy.  Indeed, I have been to the Gateway Arch and have very fond memories, though that was in 1989 when perhaps the 1960s vibe wasn’t so prominent.

Aunts Pat & Carol were unable to find a postcard while visiting Pendleton recently, so they sent me this wooden postcard from Silver Falls State Park.
I was interested in this wooden postcard because it is a normal postcard attached to a birch wood board.   I feel like most wooden postcards I’ve seen have the image burned on the wood itself.

This lead me to the postcard’s website, (birchwoodpostcards.com) where I learned that you can choose a variety of images, and they will drop your site’s name onto the photography, then produce the postcard and sell them to you. Very interesting.

Sara sent this from the Whitney Museum of Art. (I’m still living off the postcard largess of that October visit to NYC.)  She reports that she did not see this particular work by Alex Israel, but she loved the odd shape.
I loved it too.

This is a souvenir from Sara’s trip to New York City. She traveled there with her husband, parents and sister for a short autumn vacation.  They stayed in an actual brownstone (Air B&B) and, among other things, took in the old-school dioramas at the museum. (I love a good diorama.)

My mom went on a Road Scholar tour of Louisiana and sent me this postcard. She reports that she still has not eaten crawfish and has no plans to.  She also particularly enjoyed the Cajun village they visited.  I can also tell you that it was still hot and humid there, even on the 10th of October.

Sara’s in-laws were visiting Minneapolis, so they got to take the  Como-Harriet line.  She also reports her song choice: Clang Clang Clang! (A.k.a. the Trolley Song) from Meet Me in St. Louis.

This is from my cousin Ron, who always travels anyway, but also gets some sort of travel stipend in his retirement.  He reports it was difficult to find a postcard of Vienna that wasn’t a depiction of 50 years ago.  (I have noticed this problem of late also, and I am not at all happy.)

Cousin Ron reports that the city is large, but they have quickly gotten used to walking, using the subway and taking buses.  Also, apparently the food is not expensive, so they have been indulging in a lot of pastry.

This came in an envelope, so I thought I would include the stamp.

Future me can also tell you that I’ve had this book on hold at the library for about a month now.  It’s very popular.
