City of Roses Motel: Metal and Wood. (Plus wall going up.)

Hey, it’s a picture in daylight!  You can see the bottom floor (I assume there will be additional stories) is almost totally framed up. (Is framed up a term?)

What interests me is that the second half of the lot is not being framed with wood, but instead these metal poles are appearing.  I think the wood-framed part will be two-story townhouses and the metal posts are the first part in a larger building, maybe four to six stories?  It’s kind of fun not having a picture of the completed project posted on the fencing. This way the construction is a guessing game for me.

And here is a wall going up!  After I took these pictures I turned to walk the rest of the way to the Max stop and found that a flagger was watching me with an amused expression on her face.

Things have been happening at the City of Roses Motel site.

I haven’t been able to take any pictures because it’s become very dark in the morning, which is when I encounter this site.
But things have been happening!  First of all, they have removed a wall of shrubs that separated the house on the right from the motel site.  They also took out a tree in the back part of the lot and pulled down the ghetto palm growing on site.
Everything has been leveled (the kitty hangout depressions in the earth are gone) and gravel has been spread.
And the site has been wrapped in this.  I’m never sure if this is supposed to keep debris in, or keep prying eyes out.  Perhaps both.
My guess of what’s coming?  Row houses.  Maybe 12 of them, with underground garages. Although the rental market is tight, so it also might be more units than you thought possible with no parking.

Happenings at the City of Roses Motel Site.

What’s this?  A fence directly in my way on my walk to the train?
It seems that I will not be accessing this sidewalk at least through the end of the year.
Some establishing photos:
The sign as it stands now.
I have had mental plans for this lot for years.  This area will be the garden, ringed on the outside by orchard trees.
This smaller section will be where the small house I will build will be located.
Opposite view of sign.  I wonder if the rose bush will survive whatever is coming.
Stay tuned.  Change comes quickly.
