Can you imagine paying $43,016 per year to become a dentist? That is an insane amount of debt to take on, even if dentists do make a lot of money from the get-go. What’s even crazier is the jump from $15,000 to $43,000 in just ten years.
I’m hoping our student-loan-saddled generation can make things better for the next one, because something has got to give.
That's really depressing, and, yes, insane. I mentioned to someone the other day that there aren't enough dentists in Hawaii to support the population and she didn't understand why. I wish I'd known the above at the time. When you start out your career several hundred thousand dollars in debt, the last thing you want is to be living somewhere as expensive as Hawaii.
I wonder what Angie would say about this, with her hubs being a dentist. I know it was an incredible amount. And then buying the practice was also crazy.
