Sara writes that she is sending this card from Arcata, not from the town in which it was purchased.
She enjoyed her time in San Diego, the weather (sunny and warm), and seeing friends. Alas, some work issues spilled over and that wasn’t fun, but there you have it.
The stamp on the back is one of the coral fish series. We both like those better than what have replaced it: the barns. I’m looking forward to the end of the barns.
Zoe writes that she and Nick kayaked across the bay to the monument to Captain Cook which had recently acquired some graffiti. There were apparently a lot of snorkelers, but they did see dolphins on the way back.
I found a stack of these postcards at Scrap at ten cents apiece. They are perfect for the messages I’m sending to my friend about each episode of the Gilmore Girls because I can write on the back and spill onto the front, if I need to.
The message on the front of the card amuses me, though a friend did mention an opportunity was missed by not saying Saturday Moooovies.
One of them came with writing on it, though I didn’t notice until I got it home.
I couldn’t find anything online about Marge duMond (at least not this one) but I didn’t do an extensive search.
Anyway, these cards are so great, I went back and bought 100 more of them. So thank you to Marge for making them.
I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls and then listening to the Gilmore Guys podcast after each episode. This means I have to find something to do while listening, and since it’s been so cold, weeding is out. So for the first time in years, I have updated my postcard display.
Many of these postcards are from when Sara was in grad school. She’s had her PhD for three years now, so you can see how they have piled up.
In a perfect world, I would automatically update them once I had 40 new postcards to display. But after this update, I have a backlog of more than 40. So these will stay for a few months and then we shall see what happens.
Sara certainly has moved to an area with a lot of local postcards! This one reminds me of clip art montages, but fancier.
Sara reports that it’s gray and rainy and overcast (a thing that happens in Portland a lot too!) and she reports that it’s also Oscar Sunday and she’s excited to see my picks for the win. She writes that she plans on recording the ceremony and catching up later.
I can tell you from the future that she ended up watching in real time, so she saw the famous slap. We discussed via text and both were frowny face about the whole thing.
Dana writes that they had not heard of this place (neither had I) and that it was very interesting to learn the history of local indigenous peoples in northern Arizona.
I’ll put it on the list!
I love the color scheme of this postcard, and the iconography. Sara grabbed it on her way from from San Francisco airport. She was hoping to find an outgoing mailbox in the airport, but did not discover one.
