Postcard from Germany

This is from Astrid and I was thrilled to receive it because it’s the first postcard I’ve gotten with a quote on it. Astrid translates Kafka’s words as “ways arised because someone goes there” and then says, “I hope you understand, I cannot translate it correct.”  I did a bit of googling and found that it’s most often translated in English as “Paths are made by walking.”  Interesting, eh?

  1. Somehow it seems more profound auf Deutsch. Or maybe I'm just biased.

I'm still having a terrible time with finding postcards & have also had one of my postcards go astray. An inauspicious start to Postcrossing but perhaps it will get better.

  2. You know that I have started to stockpile cool postcards in order to enjoy postcarding this summer! 🙂 I have a lovely one from the Cherry Blossom Festival (one is for you, too – whenever my current apathy dissipates you will get to see it). I LOVE Kafka (well, the Metamorphosis is one of my favorite classic books – which is a funny contrast to my other classic P & P! Now that would be a funny fan-fiction mash-up!).
