US Semiquincentennial Fun

I’m too young to remember the Bicentennial. I was not yet two. (And still an only child!) So I’ve always felt a little sad to have missed it. People painted fences red, white and blue! There were cool flag pants! My brother’s unofficial birth certificate from the hospital labeled him a bicentennial baby! And manufacturers made stuff.

Like this bicentennial canning jar that I inherited from my grandmother. I keep the backup salt in it, because it’s one of my favorites.

The US Semiquincentennial has been a bust. Not much fun to be had, mostly due to the president wanting to make it all about him. But when I came across Ball’s Americana Jars, I immediately purchased them. They have stars on the jar!

And stars on the lids!

It’s not as good as a red, white, and blue painted fence, but it’s something, at least.
