Here is my first drafted a-line skirt. So cute!

In sewing it together, I realized I have no idea any longer how to attach a waistband to a skirt. So that will be some learning that can happen, along with the pattern drafting.
I invested in the online Shapes of Fabric Skirt Pattern Class, where I am learning to draft ALL the skirt patterns.
Module One was to create a basic skirt pattern block that fits your (or someone else’s) body perfectly. Here is mine:

When I went to buy tag board to trace my final block, I found that Fred Meyer did not have any white tagboard. I brought home the black, and used one of my white pens. I like the effect.
I added my current measurements (in centimeters) to the block. Because my weight tends to shift, this is a way to have an easy reference telling me if the block will still work.
Module two will have me drafting half size skirts in a variety of patterns. And the half-size skirt is based on a standard skirt pattern block, which is much smaller than my skirt block. This will be speedier and save on fabric.
Here is the still-wet result of underwear dying using tea. The underwear (and a dress) sat overnight. They are a bit tan-ish, rather than brown. You can also see the 100 black tea bags that did the dying.

And here is the dried underwear. It’s a very light tan.

This was a good $1.82 experiment. That was the cost of the tea. I’ve now purchased some actual brown dye. More to come.
You may recall that last autumn, I took a class in making underwear. I wanted to draft my own underwear pattern, so I’ve been delayed in making more. But I’ve got the pattern drafted and didn’t get to eat for nearly three days while prepping for a colonoscopy, so that left ample time to sew, sew, sew.

While I sew, I watch/listen to saved YouTube videos. I’ve discovered the Stitchery, whose sense of humor is on point and who has interesting ideas.
Not eating for long periods of time, (plus I took the entire day off today, even though I could have worked from home for the first half) left me time to get this underwear project done!

And here is the “completed” underwear. The pile on the left contains the seven pairs I sewed for this part of the project. The one on the right is from the class I took.
Completed is in quotation marks because I don’t like how bright white the material is (even though I’m the one who bought it), so I will attempt to change the color by dying with black tea.
I’m going to call them sweatpants, rather than joggers, because to me, they are sweatpants.
I’m trying to get better about mending things. The pocket of my sweatpants had developed a few holes. So I took some time and sewed them up. This is the view of the outside of the pocket.

And here we have the view from the inside, where I attempted to tidy things up, even though probably no one will ever see this mending job.
