The story held together for me, and I find Jennifer Lawrence mesmerizing, so this was a successful film, as well as a good palette cleanser after the bloodbath that was the Hateful Eight. I was also a fan of the female-centered story. Hopefully there will still be parts for Lawrence when she’s the proper age to play the characters she is currently playing.

I wanted to see this because I love Jennifer Lawrence, and I particularly like her paired with Bradley Cooper, but I didn’t hear good things about it. Although now I see it has a 60% on Rotten Tomatoes, which I consider decent. Hmm.
I too heard a bunch of “eh” about this movie. So maybe my expectations were lowered and I liked it just fine. Or maybe I would have liked it just fine anyway. I think it helped that someone summarized the movie for me, so I knew what to expect. That preview was super confusing.
