Three sentence movie reviews: Deadpool

We flipped a coin to see which movie we were going to see and Matt won, so we took in this “romantic comedy” on Valentine’s Day.*  Members of the male species seem to really, really like this movie finding it gaspingly funny and wonderfully raunchy.  I found it to be amusing and raunchy and perhaps more proof that I’ve hit my superhero movie quota.**

Cost: $5.10 (somehow the special $5 price has added ten cents to it)
Where watched: Regal City Center Stadium 12 with Matt

*My choice:  Brooklyn.
**Which is a little worrisome.  What if I don’t like the next Thor movie?  Or the next Avengers movie?

There were a number of posters to choose from.  I went with the faux-romantic comedy one, because that’s how Matt was selling it.  But I think the one below is my favorite.deadpool_ver6

  1. Maybe it was because it was being “sold to you” as a rom-com. I find that when you get a notion in your head about what a movie is going to be like, that if it doesn’t fall in those lines, the viewing is spoiled. Example: Patrick told me that “Braveheart” was a love story. Imagine my dismay when the girl dies within 20 minutes. Shows up an hour later. And shows up another hour later. Not a love story. Did not like it. Will never watch it again. And I never believe his summations about movies.

    1. I knew it wasn’t a romantic comedy. I’d seen the previews. The original previews, not the “cut for Valentine’s Day previews.” Matt was just being funny. 🙂

  2. I’m with you. My expectations were low going in. While I was entertained, I didn’t think it was amazing. I would probably never watch it again. Also, I too think I may have hit a wall in regards to superhero movies. I may skip some of the next ones. Most definitely not going to see Batman vs. Superman, although I never intended to even before the bad reviews started dropping.

    1. Paraphrasing my favorite part of a B v. S review: “Ben Affleck starts out the movie as sleepy and ends it by sleepwalking.”

      Heh!
