Three sentence movie reviews: 12 Years a Slave

This movie is filled with so much violence, both overt and casual, that I had to distract myself with something else to do while I was watching it.  Excellent performances all around (though I found Mr. Pitt to be annoyingly distracting–how convenient that one of the producers turns up as the savior) .  This wasn’t easy to watch, but worthwhile.

Cost: free from library
Where watched: at home.

  1. Was he distracting as in he was a bad actor? Or was he distracting as in "damn! That Brad Pitt is so distracting!" Wink, wink.

  2. I know I should see this movie, but I also know it is NFS. So in that limbo I have opted not to see it. Thanks for watching it for me.

    1. Really annoying that I cannot be unattached to my account. I know this is not your fault. You can see where the commenting ability shifted from the no log-in to the login. Perhaps something changed on squarespace for those posts. I wonder if Jan will have that issue too since she uses the non log in comment option as well. I also wonder if this has to do with the age f the posts.

  6. Heather, I think he was distracting as it was so incredibly obvious that one of the producers got to have the role of the only 100% decent white guy in the south. I find Brad Pitt to be a good actor, but have never found him attractive.

SKES–Totally a NFS movie. So much so it should be called a TNFS movie. 🙂

  7. Yeah. I had heard that from Shawn. Good to know that sticking with my guns on this one is a smart plan.

  8. I’m so glad I watched this alone because I cried through the whole thing. It really killed me to know that things like this happened to people in real life. Ugh. Good movie though. I agree that Pitt’s character felt a little out of place.
